The RS-11 followed the carbody design of the model RSD-7, shortened to about 57' over couplers. The carbody was mounted on conventional B-B drop-side equalizer swing bolster-type trucks. The RS-11 was powered by a model 251B 12-cylinder V engine rated 1,800 hp at 1,000 rpm. They were used for freight, passenger and commuter runs; they are a rugged-looking locomotive.
